    En el presente artículo se estudian las particularidades de la traducción de los nombres parlantes al español en las obras de N. V. Gógol. Se destaca la necesidad de descifrar y transmitir la semántica de estos nombres propios de los personajes de una obra porque frecuentemente se convierten en el único medio de creación del efecto cómico presente en el original, y, al mismo tiempo, contienen información extralingüística que el traductor debe transmitir al lector. Se ofrece un análisis de la semántica y prágmática de los nombres propios parlantes, teniendo en cuenta su componente extralingüístico y se investigan los métodos utilizados por el traductor en algunas de las traducciones existentes, insistiendo en la necesidad de una correcta transferencia de los significados de los mismos y subrayando el papel del contexto en la transmisión de sus significados.

    This article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities in the translation of the “speaking names” in N.V. Gogol’s works into Spanish. The necessity to decode and transfer the semantics of the “speaking names” is stressed in the research since they often become the only means of creating the comic effect, present in the source text, and at the same time they contain extra-linguistic information which the translator must transmit to the reader. An analysis of the semantics and pragmatics of “speaking names” is provided, taking into account the extralinguistic сomponent. We also describe the methods used by the translator in some of the existing translations, and highlight the importance of a proper transfer of the meanings of the speaking names, as well as the role of context in the transmission of their meanings.
