Livro acessível: o encantamento na ponta dos dedos

    This study analyzes a research/extension organized in the University, which aimed at discussing and elaborating accessible books for children. The actions happened in two modules and were carried by undergraduate students, university professors, basic education teachers, and graduate (masters and doctorate) students. The theoretical framework for the research are the studies of Nuernberg (on visual and tactile perception), Vigotsky (on social interactionism and language), Cardeal (on tactile illustrations in books), and Abramovich (on supporting the book as an object of enchantment). The working methodology was based on weekly meetings of the proposing group and biweekly meetings for the extension group. The meetings happened in times when the theoretical studies and the production and analyses of books with tactile illustrations were possible. From the analysis of the research and production process, some indications were recognized as useful in the preparation of an accessible book: defining the story and previously choosing the materials to be used; reflecting on the organization and distribution of the tactile illustrations in the book; defining the appropriate glue from the tests; the writing, after having delimited a fixed space in the book pages’ layout would allow the child to search for the text even if devoid of vision. The story text was printed using ink and braille. The children who had access to the books produced by the group showed their enchantment in using them.

    O presente texto analisa uma pesquisa/extensão organizada na Universidade tendo como objetivo problematizar e elaborar livros acessíveis para crianças. As ações foram desencadeadas em dois módulos e fizeram parte do processo estudantes de graduação, professores universitários e da educação básica e alunos da pós-graduação (mestrado e doutorado). Como referenciais teóricos foram utilizados Nuernberg ao tratar da percepção visual e tátil, Vigotsky ao abordar o sociointeracionismo e a linguagem, Cardeal em relação às ilustrações táteis em livros e Abramovich ao sustentar o livro como objeto de encantamento. Como metodologia de trabalho foram realizados encontros semanais para o grupo proponente e quinzenais para os extensionistas. Os encontros eram pensados em tempos que permitiam estudos teóricos assim como a produção e análise de livros com ilustrações táteis. A partir da análise do processo de pesquisa e produção de livros alguns indicativos foram reconhecidos como úteis na elaboração de um livro acessível: definir a história e escolher previamente os materiais a serem utilizados; refletir sobre a organização e distribuição das ilustrações táteis do livro; definir qual a cola adequada a partir de testagens; a escrita, ao ter delimitado um espaço fixo na diagramação das páginas do livro permite a criança, a possibilidade de buscar o texto mesmo se desprovida do recurso da visão. A história foi escrita com textos em tinta e em braille. As crianças que tiveram acesso aos livros produzidos pelo grupo demonstraram o seu encantamento em usa-los.
