Resumen de Smart cities e big data: o cidadão produtor de dados

Si hay un concepto que ha emergido con fuerza dentro de las estrategias urbanas globales de los últimos años, esta ha sido el de Smart City. Encontramos Smart Cities por todo el mundo (Monfaredzadeh y Kruger 2015) y se estima que el mercado en torno a las Smart City aumentará de manera importante en los próximos años (Glasmeier y Christopherson 2015; Hollands 2015). En este monográfico, los autores abordan las diferentes formas de este nuevo imaginario urbano, la ciudad “smart”, y sus implicaciones sociales, económicas, políticas y espaciales.

The study deals with the concept of smart cities from the definitions proposed by the media and the private sector, analyzing how the teleological and neutral understanding of technology aiming the city's efficiency contrasts with the specificities of urban space in their distinct characteristics. Moreover, compares examples of emerging countries where the historical exclusion and control processes take on a new meaning and announce significant impacts through the management of the city-machine, where citizens become data producers that feed the system itself with direct impact on issues of privacy and freedom of expression in the public space.
