In the External Subbetic, Upper Jurassic coarse breccias organized in lenticular sedi mentary bodies prograding to the west, are genetically relationed to N-S transcurrent faults affecting to the basin to the end of the Middle Jurassic. The breccias were probably deposited over a sunken block displaced to the north in respect of the northern palaeogeographic units, which stratigraphic series made up a main source area. The sunken block was probably emerged during the Late Liassic and Middle Jurassic, so that the breccias are underlied by the Lower Liassic Gavilan Fm.
