  • The phosphorites of Horcajo de los Montes constitute channelled bodies wich fill an erosive scar located in the platform (gully). The filling of this scar is polycyclinal by means of small encasements of channels about 500 m wide which amalgamate and overlap successively. The phosphatic layers display great continuity, although they undergo changes in thick ness owing to compensations in relief, both between layers and groups of these, similar to the compensation cycles in turbidites.
