El Seminario Metropolitano san Atón de Badajoz ha desarrollado una clara influencia en el devenir histórico y cultural Extremeño desde 1664, especialmente importante es la etapa comprendida entre los siglos XVII y XIX. Miles de niños y jóvenes, desde hace casi cuatro siglos, han forjado su personalidad y han aportado su maduración al contexto sociocultural y religioso en el que se han insertado, bien como sacerdotes, bien como hombres al servicio de la sociedad. Teniendo en cuenta que el Seminario es una institución educativa, el análisis exhaustivo de su alumnado es una tarea pendiente para cualquier historiador. Con este trabajo pretendemos dar a conocer el alumnado de san Atón a través de la documentación conservada en su archivo; haremos especial mención a alumnos insignes que se formaron en la entidad, como reconocimiento a su vida y obra.
The Metropolitan Seminaryof San Aton (Badajoz)has developed a clear influence on the Extremadura’s historical and cultural development since its founding in 1664,being vital for the importance of the entity the period between centuries XVII-XVIII. Thousands of children and young people, for almost four centuries, have forged their personality and maturity and have contributed to socio-cultural and religious context in which they are inserted, either as priests or as men in the service of society.Given that the Seminary is an educational institution, a thorough analysis of its students is a pending ask for any historian. With this work we aim to bring researchers to data from students of St. Aton through documentation of the Archives. We will make special mention of distinguished students that formed in the state,in recognition of their life and work.
