A través de la historia del arte se ha entendido que el espacio ha constituido un elemento importante de estudio y experimentación tanto desde un punto de vista teórico como práctico.
En este documento se detallan los diferentes tipos de espacios existentes en las obras artísticas analógicas para posteriormente, analizar el espacio de la obra digital. Se describe también las consecuencias que tiene para los diferentes espacios artísticos la introducción del material artístico en la Red, estimando que existen algunas novedades por la materia que se trabaja, la información, que lógicamente devienen en la extinción de algunos espacios.
También es apreciable el cambio que esto ha supuesto para el museo, y se entiende que existe una necesidad creciente para una sociedad-red de participar activamente en la cultura, lo que conlleva a que el lugar de exposición tenga que atender a las nuevas reclamas de la sociedad informacional a la que la Institución artística no puede mantenerse ajena.

Throughout the history of art, it has been understood that the space has been an important element of study and experimentation both from a theoretical and practical point of view.
This document provides further detail to the different types of spaces in analog artistic work, in order, to offer a framework of understanding of the network´s space.
It also describes the results achieved from the different artistic spaces with the introduction of artistic material on the Network, considering the novelties in terms of the field of work, the information, which naturally becomes the extinction of some of the art spaces.
We must also highlight and assume the change this has represented to the museum, given the demand of network society and being a growing need of the active participation in a cultural environment, bringing the exhibition spaces the urge to cater for the claim of information society to which the artistic institution cannot disregard.
