      Nel presente contributo viene riportata e documentata la presenza di alcuni esemplari di Aplysia dactylomela Rang, 1828 (Opisthobranchia: Aplysiidae) rinvenuti lungo la costa orientale della Sicilia, in località Giardini Naxos (Taormina), a bassa profondità su substrato roccioso. In particolare, viene sottolineato il rinvenimento delle ovature di questa specie, deposte alla base dei fasci di Posidonia oceanica (Linnaeus) Delile. A.

      dactylomela è una specie aliena per il Mediterraneo, la cui origine non è stata, al momento, accertata con chiarezza.

      This paper focuses on the recent finding of some specimens of Aplysia dactylomela Rang, 1828 (Opisthobranchia: Aplysiidae), in a shallow water rocky site of North-Eastern Sicily (Giardini Naxos, Taormina), Ionian Sea. On the whole, about 30 specimens (some with egg masses) were observed during field surveys, between August and November 2006. A. dactyomela is a circumtropical species, present both in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Indo-Pacific. In the Mediterranean Sea, A. dactylomela has to be considered an �alien� species, its provenance having not been established with certainty yet. Three ways of colonisation are equally plausible: two natural, from the Red Sea (throughout the Suez Canal) or from the Atlantic Ocean (throughout the Strait of Gibraltar), and one related to anthropic activities. The finding of the egg masses demonstrates that A. dactylomela is potentially able to reproduce and, possibly, expand its distribution in Mediterranean Sea. A continuous activity of monitoring of this species would be necessary in order to assess diet preferences and possible competition phenomena with autochthonous herbivorous molluscs.
