After the first report (Coppini et al., 2006), focused on the Gastropoda and Scaphopoda obtained from the muddy bottom of the Livorno harbour, we here add new findings of rare species obtained from the study of samples taken from the muddy bottoms off Livorno harbour (North Thyrrhenian Sea), a not polpute muddy environment. The aim of our systematic dredging activity was, in fact, to compare the mud-loving molluscs fauna from the Livorno area, comparing potentially impacted environments with more pristine ones. On the whole, 71 living species have been found, of which 66 were gastropods and 5 scaphopods; the most abundant species is Turritella communis Risso, 1826. Of these species, sixteen can be considered uncommon (13 gastropods and 3 scaphopods), and ten are new records for the Tuscany Sea. The finding of Bacteridium carinatum (de Folin, 1870) also represents the first record of this species for the Italian fauna. Each species has been illustrated and its ecology commented.
