This article reports that experiments in injecting the feet of diabetics with silicon has helped prevent the foot sores that often end in death for these patients. The problem is that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not given permission for the treatment due to scares over cancer caused by ruptured silicon breast implants. Lawsuits over ruptured implants put Dow Corning out of the medical silicon implant business and the taint survives against the product.
