  • A response is offered to the article "The Case for Offshore Balancing," by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt in the July/August 2016 issue. It discusses Walt and Mearsheimer's perspective that the U.S. should change its grand strategy and begin to address the balance of power throughout the world through its alliances, referencing the history of U.S. foreign relations from the mid 20th century through the early 21st century. Topics, including U.S. security, intervention and national interest, are discussed.
