    Animal well-being is currently a theme of intense discussion. The increasing interest regarding this subject is reflected not only in the activities of those who work but also of those studying fish. In Brazil, the discussion about cultivated fish well-being is beginning, and few research deal with this matter, most of them at the behavioral point of view. This review approaches conceptual themes (meaning and well-being criteria, fish suffering and perception of pain), physiologic (stress physiology and well-being, health, disease and well-being) and behavior (behavior and well-being) and it has the objective of increasing the available literature on well-being in cultivated fish

    Bem-estar animal é um tema atual de intensa discussão. O aumento do interesse a respeito deste assunto reflete-se tanto nas atividades das pessoas que trabalham com peixes como dos pesquisadores da área. A discussão sobre o bem-estar em peixes cultivados no Brasil começa a ser implementada, poucos trabalhos tratam do assunto, sendo a maioria do ponto de vista comportamental. Esta revisão aborda temas conceituais (significado e critérios de bem-estar, sofrimento e a percepção da dor em peixes), fisiológicos (fisiologia de estresse e bem-estar, saúde, doença e bem-estar) e comportamentais (comportamento e bem-estar) e tem como objetivo incrementar a literatura sobre o bem-estar em peixes cultivados
