    The aim of this paper is to discuss the representations of undergraduate university students in a Brazilian English teacher education course (Letras course). Representations are here understood as the meanings constructed socio-historically by individuals as they participate in different activities in the social formations they belong to. Knowing and understanding representations of English teachers-to-be is important for educators and those interested in the teacher education field as a way to get insights of their development and be better prepared to cope with the demands of such a process.

    O objetivo deste artigo é discutir as representações de alunos de graduação de um curso de Letras, com habilitação em Inglês-Português. As representações são entendidas como os significados construídos sócio-historicamente pelos indivíduos à medida que eles participam das atividades dentro das formações sociais a que pertencem. Conhecer e entender as representações de futuros professores de Inglês é importante para os educadores e aqueles interessados na área de formação de professores como forma de ter insights de seu desenvolvimento e poder estar mais bem preparados para dar conta das demandas desse processo.
