Análise de Necessidades: Identificando Gêneros Acadêmicos em um Curso de Leitura Instrumental

    In this paper, we discuss the results of a survey carried out in an EAP reading course at PUCSP/COGEAE. Two were our main objectives: (1) to learn what genres are most commonly read by our students, which would allow us to re-think the objectives of this course, and (2) to assess the importance given to such genres. This survey took place between 1999 and 2000 and two questionnaires were used, both analysed quantitatively and qualitatively. Results show not only a number of genres most commonly read by our learners, but also the perceptions our students have of these genres. These outcomes are quite relevant to our course design.

    Este artigo apresenta o resultado de uma pesquisa realizada no curso de Inglês Instrumental: Leitura para Fins Acadêmicos da PUCSP/COGEAE. Seus objetivos principais são: (1) identificar os gêneros mais comumente lidos pelos aprendizes, propiciando uma reestruturação dos objetivos do curso e (2) avaliar a importância dada a eles. A pesquisa ocorreu entre 1999 e 2000 e teve como instrumentos dois questionários, analisados de forma quantitativa e qualitativa. Os resultados mostram não só o conjunto de gêneros mais lidos, informação relevante para a reestruturação de nosso curso, como também percepções que os alunos possuem sobre sua necessidade de leitura.
