  Los autores, partiendo de los actuales conocimientos de la inmunología, explican la patogenia de la enfermedad periodontal. Los antígenos bacterianos inician el proceso inflamatorio. Este proceso y la correspondiente respuesta inmune, con la presencia de citocinas y células citotóxicas, originan las lesiones hísticas y la respuesta reparadora, lo cual dalugar a toda la sintomatología de las distintas periodontitis, inmersas en una inmunodeficiencia por parte del paciente.

  The authors, starting from the present knowledges about the inmunology, explain periodontal disease pathogeny. The inflammatory process is begun by bacterial antigens.

  This process and its respective inmune answer, with the presence of cytokines and cytotoxic cells, create histic harms and the fault-finding answer, which give rise to all the different periodontal disease symptomatology, inmersed in an inmmunodeficiency on the part of the patient.
