Tecnologias de reprodução assistida e a questão dos riscos para mulheres e embriões: a ponta de um iceberg

    In assisted reproduction, not everything that is technically possible is ethically acceptable or socially desirable. The impact it has on women and embryos needs to be considered. The risk to women involves the ingestion of hormones, which can cause potentially serious complications. As regards embryos, there are risks of prematurity, low birth weight and other diseases. This article advocates a strong protective guardianship for women and the extracorporeal embryo. Faced with new bioethical dilemmas, the essence of the human being is in question. It is therefore the task of all spheres of knowledge to make a distinction between the personalizing and depersonalizing of human beings.

    Em procriação assistida nem tudo que é tecnicamente possível é eticamente aceitável e socialmente desejável, sendo necessário considerar seu impacto nas mulheres e nos embriões. Entre os riscos às mulheres, há a ingestão de hormônios, que pode ocasionar complicações potencialmente graves. Para os embriões, há riscos de prematuridade e baixo peso, além de outras enfermidades. Este artigo defende uma tutela protetiva forte para a mulher e para o embrião extracorporal. Diante dos novos dilemas bioéticos, a essência do ser humano está em questão, sendo tarefa de todas as esferas do conhecimento distinguir o que personaliza o ser humano daquilo que o despersonaliza.
