Resumen de Nanometry education: Ideas for teaching and learning nanoscale measurements

David Devraj Kumar

  • Nanometry education involves teaching and learning about matter on the scale of one billionth of a metre. Benchmark characteristics of objects can be used to help visualise the scale of things, and the integration of science and mathematics helps to enrich the context of nanoscale and make nanometry meaningful. However, more realistic benchmark characteristics of objects need to be identified and should be implemented in nanometry education to make nanoscale instruction realistic to students. This article explores ideas for teaching and learning and outlines an example of nanometry education. Other resources for classroom use are also noted and recommendations for teacher training, curriculum development, administrator support and research provided.
