China hoy, un país con más de 20 millones de musulmanes. Recorriendo brevemente las etapas de la historia del Islam en China, nuestro ensayo se centrará en analizar la situación actual de las comunidades islámicas en el país, diferenciándolas según su etnia y localización geográfica. Insistirá en el estudio del problema de las minorías en China, sus relaciones con la etnia han mayoritaria y el Estado, subrayando la importancia de sus identidades nacional-religiosas y sus repercusiones en el Estado chino, su política y la visión de conjunto del conflicto que se deduce desde Europa.

After a brief description of the historical stages of Islam in China, this essay focusses in the analysis of the present-day position of the Islamic communities in this country, pointing out their differences according to their ethnic group and their geographic position. The ar-ticle deals with the study of the problems of the minorities in China, their connections with the Han ethnic group and the State. It emphasises the importance of their national-religious identities and their im-pact on the Chinese government, on its policies and on the global vi-sion of the conflict that has been constructed in Europe
