    This article presents supports for the debate about the potential for the articulation of social movements through the use of the technical resources available today. It begins with an investigation of the dynamic nature of the existing contradictions in social relations and introduces a discussion about the democratic possibilities that new computer resources can create. It analyzes the role of new information and communication technologies in relation to the external organization of social movements. The objective is to show that the attribution of a mobilizing power to the new information tools (Facebook, Twitter etc.) can hide the determinations of the existing social relations in popular actions and demonstrations.

    Este artigo apresenta subsídios para o debate sobre as potencialidades de articulação dos movimentos sociais ao uso dos recursos tecnológicos disponíveis na atualidade. Parte da investigação sobre a dinamicidade das contradições existentes no conjunto das relações sociais para introduzir a discussão a respeito das possibilidades democráticas que poderão surgir com os novos recursos informáticos. Analisa o papel das novas tecnologias da informação e comunicação em relação à articulação externa dos movimentos sociais. O objetivo é mostrar que a atribuição de um poder mobilizador às novas ferramentas informacionais (Facebook, Twitter etc.) pode obscurecer as determinações das relações sociais existentes nas ações e manifestações populares.
