  El género Gentianopsis (Gentianaceae), con distribución en la regiones templadas y frías del hemisferio norte, registra para México una especie y dos variedades, una de ellas endémica, la otra extiende su distribución al suroeste de los Estados Unidos. Las dos variedades se presentan como nuevas combinaciones nomenclaturales: Gentianopsis detonsa (Rottb.) Ma var. lanceolata (Benth.) Villarreal et A.E. Estrada y G.d. (Rottb.) Ma var. superba (Greene) Villarreal et A.E. Estrada. Se presenta una sinopsis del género para México, incluyendo claves para la determinación de los taxa, descripciones y datos de distribución y ecológicos.

  The genus Gentianopsis (Gentianaceae) is distributed in temperate and cold regions of the Northern Hemisphere. In Mexico there is one species with two varieties, one endemic and the other reaching the southwestern United States. The two varieties are presented as new nomenclatural combinations: Gentianopsis detonsa (Rottb.) Ma var. lanceolata (Benth.) Villarreal et A.E. Estrada y G.d. (Rottb.) Ma var. superba (Greene) Villarreal & A.E. Estrada. A synopsis of the genus is given; it includes keys to identify the taxa, descriptions, and ecological and distributional information.
