Barbie: What can children and adults learn from this doll? Following from a Masters program, this research looks at Barbie as a mass media product by conducting a critical analysis of the discourse nature found in two animated films produced at different times, namely Barbie and the Rockers: Out of this World (1987) and Barbie: The Princess and the Popstar (2012), as well as of the possible discursive purposes found in those narratives. The aim is, therefore, to carry out an empirical study of the different discourse patterns for educational purposes (the teaching of content, values, and attitudes) which are not seen in the syllabus of children's and adults' education.
The investigation is based on bibliography and documentation.
