  • The article discusses the social and economic condition of South America dealing on topics including populism, unsustainable welfarism and democracy. It notes the partnership of Brazil and Venezuela in populism wherein they are both in dire political, economic and institutional straits. It mentions that Venezuelan politician Henrique Capriles Radonski underestimated one of the most notorious characteristics of twenty-first century Latin American populism.
