Resumen de Pipas de fumar en el puerto de Cartagena (Murcia)

  Entre los objetos más llamativos localizados al inicio la excavación del Puerto de Cartagena, se encuentran una serie de pipas de fumar. La rareza de estos objetos no es tanto debida al material en sí mismo como principalmente a la falta de bibliografía y escasa información que sobre ellos existe en España. Su estudio nos acerca al despegue económico de Cartagena en el XIX, a través de la metalurgia, del comercio marítimo minero y a la influencia anglosajona en la región.

  Amongst the most important objects found at the beginning of the excavation in the site of the Port of Cartagena (Murcia) were several tobacco smoking pipes.

  The peculiarity of these objects, is not so much due to the items themselves but to the lack of literature and information on them that exists in Spain. Their research allows us to know more about the economic boom that take place in Cartagena in the XIXth century as a result of advances in metallurgy, the mining and maritime trade and to the Anglo-Saxon influence in the region.
