  • Resumen
    • The fossilized consciousnessIn view of the striking similarities between animals and human beings, in 1859 Darwin came to the conclusion that both shared a common ancestor. The evolution of human beings is thus inextricably linked to the development of superior cognitive abilities (amongst which the emergence of consciousness plays a key role). From such analogy between animals and human beings we ought to ask ourselves this question: are human beings the only conscious beings? Is there such a thing as animal consciousness? In this essay, I will analyze a number of data from the fossil record in order to answer how consciousness emerges.
