    La tos ferina es una infección respiratoria causada por la bacteria Bordetella pertussis. En las últimas dos décadas, sobre todo en EE.UU. y Europa, se ha constatado un aumen- to de la infección a pesar haber conseguido una elevada cobertura vacunal. Por tanto, el objetivo de la siguiente revi- sión es analizar el incremento de casos en España y las dife- rentes medidas de prevención recomendadas en los grupos de mayor incidencia (lactantes menores de 2 y 6 meses, adolescentes y adultos), incluyendo como tal la vacunación durante el embarazo. La matrona, puede promover la vacuna- ción en el embarazo y sensibilizar sobre la importancia de la estrategia del nido, desencadenando a su vez la prevención en la etapa adulta y adolescente, y así descender la incidencia de la enfermedad. Sería conveniente realizar además, estu- dios sobre la efectividad de la vacuna y mantener una actitud alerta sobre posibles casos infravalorados en adultos

    Whooping cough is a respiratory infection caused by bacteria Bordetella pertussis. In the last two decades has been an increase in the infection mainly in the United States and Europe, despite having achieved a high coverage in vaccination. Therefore, the objective of the present review is to analyze the increase of cases of whooping cough in Spain and different prevention measures recommended in the groups of greatest incidence (babies under the age of 2 and 6 months, adolescents and adults), including as such vaccination during pregnancy. The midwifery, can promote vaccination in pregnancy and raise awareness about the importance of the cocooning strategy, triggering the prevention in the adult and adolescent stage, at the same time and thus lower the incidence of the disease. It should also conduct studies on the effectiveness of the vaccine and continued vigilance about any cases overlooked in adults
