Resumen de As Tapeçarias de Pastrana e a Expansão Portuguesa: A Construção de uma Narrativa Épica

  O contexto principal de nossa análise refere-se ao reinado de D. Afonso V em Portugal, período no qual foram conquistadas as cidades de Alcácer Ceguer (1458), Anafé (1469), Arzila (1471) e Tânger (1471). Sobre a conquista de Arzila e Tânger temos por máxima representação artística as Tapeçarias de Pastrana. Revisitando o tema tentamos inserir a importância desta arte no contexto tardo-medieval, como um discurso visível e épico da presença portuguesa em África em seu viés comemorativo. Símbolos de poder e produção de memória, tanto as narrativas escritas como visuais, colaboram com a projeção de um retrato das conquistas afonsinas como elementos que perpetuam, a longo prazo, a imagem do rei- cavaleiro, evocando os feitos afonsinos em sua essência comemorativa e representativa, contribuindo para a perpetuação deste momento histórico em sua dimensão heroica.

  The main context of our analysis refers to the reign of King Afonso V of Portugal, during which were conquered the cities of Alcacer Ceguer (1458), Anafe (1469), Asilah (1471) and Tangier (1471). The conquest of Asilah and Tangier have for maximum artistic representation the Pastrana Tapestries. By revisiting the theme we try to insert the importance of this kind of art in Late Medieval context, as a visible and epic discourse of the Portuguese presence in Africa in its commemorative bias. Symbols of power and production of memory, both narratives, written and visual, work with the projection of a picture of the afonsinas achievements as elements that perpetuate, in the long-term, the image of the king-knight, evoking the afonsinos deeds in its commemorative and representative essence, contributing to the perpetuation of this historical moment in its heroic dimension.
