  • This paper addresses the issue of “return migrations,” which have takenon a new dimension with the crisis that has durably taken root in certain countries of “OldEurope,” particularly in Spain. It attempts fi rstly to shed light on why these migrations havehitherto been understudied, except in a “metaphorical” manner. After presenting a critiqueof certain notions, in fashion in studies of current migrations, which excessively valorizethe “mobility” of migrants, the paper shows that this mobility remains essentially somethingthat the migrants suffer and not choose. Finally, it brings to light the issues involvedin return migrations, with the example of Peruvians, based upon fi eld research conductedin Peru in July and August 2014
