La deuda de Edward Martyn con Ibsen y su Enemigo del pueblo

    En el presente artículo pretendo demostrar cómo las influencias de la obra An Enemy of the People del dramaturgo noruego Henrik Ibsen en la obra The Heather Field del dramaturgo irlandés Edward Martyn, hasta ahora no analizadas de manera suficientemente detallada, son demasiado numerosas y evidentes como para pasarlas por alto, y cómo no sólo influyeron en The Heather Field otras obras de Ibsen como The Wild Duck, The Master Builder, Ghosts, John Gabriel Borkman, Rosmersholm y Little Eyolf, sino también An Enemy of the People.

    In this article I will try to show how the influence of the play An Enemy of the People, by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, on the play The Heather Field, by Irish playwright Edward Martyn, so far never analysed in a sufficiently detailed way, is too obvious and pervasive to not be taken into account. In this way, An Enemy of the People, together with Ibsen’s The Wild Duck, The Master Builder, Ghosts, John Gabriel Borkman, Rosmersholm and Little Eyolf can be counted as influences on The Heather Field.
