La iglesia de San Miguel en la localidad de Pitiegua (Salamanca) se localiza en una zona con un destacado número de construcciones mudéjares, uniéndose al listado de templos que cumplen con las características de esta arquitectura. Además de tratarse de un ejemplar inédito, de su fábrica original sobresale el uso de la piedra arenisca para los muros de la cabecera y del ladrillo para los de los pies, así como la existencia de un arco de herradura de carácter arcaizante –realizado en arenisca también– y que constituye uno de los pocos ejemplos existentes a nivel provincial.
The church of San Miguel in the town of Pitiegua (Salamanca) is located in an area with a prominent number of Mudejar constructions, joining the list of temples that meet the characteristics of this architecture. San Miguel church in Pitiegua (Salamanca) is only one of the several examples of Early Mudejar constructions that can be found in the area where it is located. The most remarkable features of this unprecedented building are the sandstone walls of the chancel and the brick walls of the western front, as well as an archaic, sandstone horseshoe arch –a very unusual element in what remains of this style within the province.
