  • Resumen
    • A mathematical function has been developed to describe the growth of berry grapes which satisfactorily fits berry growth over time. A biphasic model of fruit growth explains the pattern of berry growth and the lag phase may represent the overlapping of the initial or final growth of two sigmoid growth phases. Attempts to adapt the growth curve function of individual berry growth to whole plant or cultivar berry growth was partially successful. Parameters which define the berry growth function may be used for an exploratory approach (principal components) to evaluate variability within and among cultivars.
