The objective of this article is to understand the displacement, in the interior ofthe workmanship of Roberto Sirnonsen, of the concept of raee for the one of population as an economic factor. We will observe as Simonsen thought the slavery and the economic role that the one reduced the slave. Finally, the construction of an apolitical work force, organized by the scientific methods, reinforcing the transmutation of populntion into a disciplined collective worker.

O objetivo deste artigo é compreender o deslocamento, no interior da obra de Roberto Simonsen, do conceito de raça para o de população como fator econômico. Trataremos de observar como Simonsen pensava a escravidão e o papel econômico a que reduzia o escravo. Por fim, a construção de um operariado despolitizado e organizado pelos métodos da ciência, consubstanciando a transmutação da população em trabalhador coletivo disciplinado.
