Eje de bisagra, ¿real o arbitrario?

    El avance de la técnica en la toma de registros que nos ayuden en el diagnóstico y plan de tratamiento oclusal de un paciente nos ha conducido a obviar algunos de los principios básicos sobre los que se basa la cinemática mandibular permitiéndonos utilizar valores promedio que, aunque fundamentados científicamente,pueden significar el acúmulo de errores al final del tratamiento.

    El presente artículo pretende revisar la primera etapa de la cinemática mandíbular y considerar la base sobre la cual los articuladores reproducen los movimiento de la mandíbula: el eje de bisagra.

    The advance in the technique of taking records that would help in the diagnosis and occlusal treatment plan of a patient have had as a result the elimination of some of the basic principles ofmandibular kinematic movements by allowing us to use average values that, even though they are scientifically based, could result in an accumulation of errors by the end ot a treatment.

    The present article pretends to revíew the first stage of mandibular kinematic movement and to consider the base upon which the articulators reproduce the movements of the jaws: the hinge axis.
