Acerca del catolicismo español en el siglo XXI: ¿de religión oficial a complemento cultural?

    Quien se pregunte por el fondo de la actual crisis política y económica española detectará, en primer lugar, una serie de causas políticas en el mismo sistema electoral, que favorece una partitocracia con insuficiente división de poderes; sin olvidar el papel de la Unión Europea. Pero si profundiza, posiblemente termine dando con un cambio antropológico, a cuyo lado los cambios institucionales o legales son importantes, pero menores. Con ese propósito se analiza la actuación de la Conferencia Episcopal Española frente al papel fundamental de la religión Católica en la sociedad española. Este ensayo no está escrito desde la Teología, sino desde la una visión jurídica de un constitucionalista que intenta entender qué pasa hoy en España, más que nada a base de tomar distancia y aplicar el sentido común.

    Anyone who asks about the background of the current Spanish political and economic crisis will first detect a number of political causes in the same electoral system that favors the government of political parties with insufficient separation of powers; without forgetting the role of the European Union. But if someone deepens, possibly he or she ends discovering an anthropological change, where the institutional and legal changes are important, but smaller. For this purpose the performance of the Spanish Episcopal Conference regarding the fundamental role of the Catholic religion in Spanish society is analyzed. This essay has not been written from the theology field, but from a legal vision of a constitutionalist who tries to understand what is happening today in Spain, mostly in order to step back and apply common sense.
