    El trabajo tiene como objetivo llevar a cabo una revisión crítica sobre la literatura de consecución de mayorías del partido o coalición del presidente, contextualizándolo dentro del escenario latinoamericano. Para ello, se lleva cabo una discusión crítica en torno a la influencia del calendario electoral y la fórmula de elección presidencial para, a continuación, introducir otras variables apuntadas desde la teoría. El propósito último es comprobar la validez empírica de las proposiciones sostenidas desde la literatura e identificar las variables que ejercen más influencia a la hora de explicar la consecución de mayorías legislativas, así como describir su comportamiento

    This work intends to carry out a critical review of the literature that deals with the topic of gaining majority of the president’s party or coalition within the context of the Latin American scenario. It presents a critical discussion in regard to the influence of the electoral calendar and the presidential election formula, and then it introduces other variables from the theoretical standpoint. The purpose of the latter is to verify the empirical validity of the upheld propositions in literature and identify the variables that exert the greater influence when it come to explaining the attainment of legislative majorities as well as to describe their behavior
