What led to the choice of an international meridian: a historical account.
For thousands of years, man`s daily life was ruled by the apparent motion of the sun. During the second half of the XIX th century, with the extension of railways to all Europe, it because absolutely necessary:
1) To standardize the time through each country,, 2) to connect different standard times together throughout the world strating from one meridian that would be of longitude 0 ͦ , hence the choice of the meridian of Greenwich and the division of the Earth into 24 time-belts.

Pendant des millénaires, la vie quotidienne fut réglée par le mouvement apparent du soleil. Au cours de la seconde moitié du XIX ͤ siècle, avec l'extension des chemins de fer à toute l'Europe, apparut la nécessité absolute d'abord d'unifier l'heure légales dans le mobde en partant d'un méridien qui servirait d'origine , d'où choix du mèridien de Greenwich et division de la terre en 24 fuseaux horaires.

Der internationale Meridian.
Während Jahrtausenden wurde der Alltag durch die sichtbare Sonnenbewegung geregelt. Da in der zweiten Hälftedes 19. Jahrhunderts, sich die Eisenbahn über ganz Europa verbreitete war es eine absolute Notwendigkeit, alle Uhren der Welt auf ein Land und eine Linie auszurichten, die als Anfangsmeririanoder Nullmeridian diente. So wurde der Meridian bei Greenwich gewählt und der Stundenkreisin 24 geteilt.
