    Se presenta un paciente varón, asintomático, con lesión ulcerada a nivel del borde lateral derecho de la lengua. El estudio histopatológico y posterior cultivo de la lesión estableció el diagnóstico de úlcera tuberculosa, permitiendo el posterior descubrimiento de una tuberculosis pulmonar asintomática subyacente.

    Se revisan las características clínicas, patogenia y diagnóstico diferencial de la ulceración tuberculosa de la mucosa lingual.

    A 42-years-old man come to our Department for evaluation of a painless ulcer on the right border of the tongue. Histopathological and bacteriological studies established the diagnosis of tuberculosis of the tongue, and permited to diagnose an asymptomatic pulmonary tuberculosis previously unnoticed. The lingual tuberculosis was considered to be a secondary infection from the pulmonary disease.

    The clinical features, the etiopathogenic theories and the differencial diagnosis of the tuberculous ulcer of the tongue are discussed.
