    En este artículo se revisa cómo es el mercado de los medicamentos biotecnológicos que presentan mayor recobro al Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud, según el perfil epidemiológico y demográfico de la población colombiana. De igual manera, se resalta la importancia de la competencia en la industria farmacéutica biotecnológica, al permitir mayor acceso a la población, al reducir los precios de estos productos y, consecuentemente, al favorecer las finanzas del sector salud.

    This paper reviews the market of biotechnological drugs that show a higher collection to the General Social Security System in Health, according to the demographic and epidemiological profile of the Colombian population. It also highlights the importance of competition in the pharmaceutical biotechnology industry by granting greater access to the population, reducing the prices of these products and, consequently, favoring the health sector finances.
