En la Exposición Internacional de Artes Decorativas del año 1925 en París, tiene lugar la presentación oficial de un nuevo estilo artístico denominado Art Decó. Por primera vez, la moda y la joyería entendidas como manifestaciones artísticas tienen una presencia independiente.
Las novedades de moda se exhibieron en el Pavillon de l�Elégance, circunstancia aprovechada por algunos joyeros, caso de Louis Cartier, que decidieron incluir sus creaciones en dicho espacio, al concebir ambas manifestaciones como artes convergentes. De esta manera, la nueva moda femenina, desafiante ante las normas sociales convencionales, influyó decisivamente en las nuevas tipologías joyeras destinadas a realzar y adornar las partes del cuerpo femenino que ahora son exhibidas públicamente. Asimismo, la nueva estética de estas piezas, resultado de la asimilación de las características propias del estilo Art Decó, sitúa a la joyería como una expresión artística de primer orden y convierte este período en uno de los más fascinantes y evocadores de toda su historia. La ponencia desarrolla las características de la joyería de este periodo, así como las tipologías surgidas como consecuencia de la nueva moda.

At the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1925, the official launch of a new artistic style called Art Decó occurs. For the first time, fashion and jewelry understood as art forms, have an independent presence. New fashions were exhibited in the Pavillon de l� Elegance, a fact exploited by some jewelers, as the case of Louis Cartier, who decided to include his creations in that area, both conceived as convergent arts demonstrations. Thus, this new female fashion defiant of conventional social rules, influenced decisively jewel�s new types designed to enhance and adorn the female body parts which are now publicly displayed. Also, the new aesthetic of these pieces, result of the assimilation of the characteristics of the Art Decó style, located at the jewelry as an artistic expression of the first order and made of this period one of the most fascinating and evocative in its history. The paper develops the characteristics of jewelry from this period, as well as the types that arise from the new fashion.
