    The European Union is a reality whose spirit has its origins in ancient Rome. With that pespective, in the current work are analyzed two fundamental aspects: On the one hand the creation of the physical, geographical space, that constituted ancient Rome comparing with today's Europe, so that starting from the ancient Roman limes we arrive at the actual European borders and the Schengen Area. On the other hand, is highlighted the importance and influence of the law used by the Roman people today, its reception in Europe and its projection in other continents.

    L'Unione europea è una realtà il cui spirito ha le sue origini nell'antica Roma. Da questa prospettiva, in questo lavoro vengono analizzati due aspetti fondamentali: da un lato la creazione dello spazio fisico, lo spazio geografico che costituiva l’antica Roma, a confronto con l’attuale Europa, in modo che a partire dal antico limes romano si arriva agli attuali confini europei e all'area Schengen. D'altra parte, si evidenza l'importanza e l'influenza che il Diritto utilizzato dai romani esercita oggi, la sua ricezione in Europa e la sua proiezione in altri continenti.
