    El binomio muerte y vida forman la parte central de la existencia humana. España, es uno de los países donde la muerte tiene un sentido y protagonismo hasta pleno siglo XIX. Con los cambios sociales y culturales producidos en el XX, arrastrará al mutismo ciertos temas, considerándolos de mal gusto.

    El cementerio se convierte en el eje vertebrador de los numerosos estudios llevados a cabo desde los ámbitos educativos, relegando a algunos estudios antropológicos todos los elementos característicos del ritual funerario. Es por ello, que esta ponencia se centra en destacar la cultura funeraria popular, la cual se encuentra diseminada entre las numerosas monografías, y subrayar la multiplicidad de las manifestaciones en el territorio español durante el siglo XX.

    The coupling death and life are the central part of human existence. Until the beginning of the 20th century, Spain is one of the countries where death has a meaning and essential prominence in the human life. The social and cultural produced changes will lead to the society to silence certain issues, considering them disagreeable.

    The cemetery becomes the backbone of many studies carried out since educational areas, relegating some anthropological studies all the characteristic elements of the funeral ritual. It is for this reason that this paper focuses on highlighting the popular funeral culture, which is scattered among numerous monographs, and to underline the multiplicity of manifestations in the Spanish land during the 20th century.
