From documentation of the Archdiocese of Seville General Archive, we have analyzed the laity of Alcalá de Guadaíra (Sevilla) during the 17th century, including the noble villa of Gandul. This has provided us with a completely new set of data, which was previously unknown until today. We commenced by studying the social group's public sins and concluded with the parties that they held in order to preserve the confraternities. Throughout the process, we meticulously examined each of them to ensure the utmost accuracy in our findings. There were close to thirty corporations analyzed, including the foundations, their income, and their dedications. Finally, we completed our analysis with an outstanding chapter regarding feminine laic religiosity, where we studied the beatas and hermits that existed in Alcala.
