Resumen de L'empire romain: un paradigme du modèle de gestion intégrée de riparia?

  The environmental concepts evolve towards the adoption of an ecosystem vision of the interactions between society and the natural environment. In this paper I refer to the results of the research conducted in the framework of the Canada Research Chair in interactions between society and the natural environment in the Roman Empire, Canada - which I held at Laval University, Canada, in the period 2003-2010 - about the recent concept of riparia. This ecosystem of waterside zones, particularly sensitive to climate variations, needs an integrated management of its resources in general and water in particular (IWRM). I deal first with the elaboration of the Roman concept “riparia”, which is at the origin of the modern term, and its universal characteristics that have allowed us to develop a theoretical model of the dynamics of the integrated management of riparia and identify elements of the ethics of this management approach as an expression of taking account of the interactions between society and the natural environment. I will consider finally how the achievements of such research could be put to use in a case study on riparian zones which includes a perspective on basin-wide management approach

  Les concepts environnementaux évoluent de manière à intégrer une vision écosytémique des interactions société-environnement. Je me référerai aux acquis des recherches menées dans le cadre de la Chaire de recherche du Canada en interactions société-environnement naturel dans l’Empire Romain dont j’ai été titulaire à l’Université Laval, Canada (2003-2010), en rapport avec l’élaboration du concept récent de riparia.

  Il s’agit de l’écosystème des bords de l’eau particulièrement affecté par les variations climatiques et par la nécessité d’une gestion intégrée des ressources du milieu en général et de l’eau en particulier. On s’intéresse ainsi aux étapes du processus de l’élaboration du concept romain de riparia, qui est à l’origine du terme, à ses caractéristiques universelles qui nous ont permis de concevoir un modèle théorique de la dynamique de la gestion intégrée des riparia et d’identifier des éléments de l’éthique de cette approche de gestion, comme expression de la prise en compte des interactions société-environnement naturel. Je m’interrogerai enfin comment les acquis de ces recherches pourraient être mis à profit dans une étude de cas portant sur des environements ripariens avec une approche de gestion par bassin versant
