    Este artículo propone recibir el documento conclusivo de Aparecida en la perspectiva de las anteriores conferencias y en vista a un futuro que debe ser anticipado creativamente. Para ello extrae del mismo documento la necesidad de recuperar la teología de los signos de los tiempos y de reconocer el valor decisivo de la opción por los pobres. En virtud de esta clave de interpretación teológica de la historia indica otros tres signos de los tiempos de los cuales será necesario encargarse. Estos son, los reclamos culturales en tiempos de globalización, la necesidad de justicia social y la demanda de mayor participación de la mujer. Por último, se ofrece la imagen de una Iglesia acompañante como la más adecuada para asumir esta tarea.

    This article proposes the acceptance of the final documentation from Aparecida within the framework of previous conferences, with a view to a creatively anticipated future. To this end it highlights the document’s insistence on recuperating the theology of the “signs of the times” and its recognition of the decisive value of the option for the poor. By virtue of this key to a theological interpretation of history, it specifies as well three other “signs of the times” in need of serious consideration. These are the cultural claims arising out of globalization, the urgency of social justice and the demands for greater participation for women. Finally, it offers the image of a Church more capable of assuming the task of accompanying this process
