• The Use of a Multi-drug Pill in Reducing Cardiovascular Events (UMPIRE) trial1 assessed the effects of long-term use of a fixed-dose combination (FDC) containing antiplatelet, statin, and antihypertensive drugs compared with usual care in patients with or at high risk of cardiovascular disease. Although this study yielded many important findings on FDC use, the results should be interpreted carefully.
