Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is characterized by excessive worry, accompanied by somatic symptoms. Certain psychological treatments lead to significant reductions in post-treatment results. The intention in this article consists of verifying how training on focusing techniques based on attention – concentration on the breath (focusing) contribute to GAD symptoms reduction applied like therapy of support in conditions pre and post treatment during two months. Data of 26 patients in hospitable entrance were examined. Self-report measures were registered.
Differences are observed between experimental group and control condition, being GAD symptoms reduced in greater measurement in experimental group. These results allow identifying differences in the symptomatic treatment of the TAG, being allowed to hypotize a greater symptomatic reduction with focusing like helping treatment.
