    Tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial, el gobierno inglés estableció un plan de socialización de la odontología que, con recortes progresivos a lo largo del tiempo, especialmente en los últimos años, ha significado el fácil acceso a los servicios dentales de todo aquél que podía necesitarlos. Con todo, casi el 50% de la población no acude regularmente al dentista. Aunque los niveles de enfermedad dental han disminuido en Inglaterra en años recientes, el sistema inglés de odontología tiene algunos inconvenientes que deben ser considerados. Sin embargo, su significado social no debe ser subestimado.

    After Second World War, the British Government decided the socialization of dental care. Although the participation of the consumers in the financiation of the cost of Dentistry has increased over the time,specially in the last years, the British system of dental care has been very helpful for all those needing dental services. Nevertheless, only some 50% of the population attend the dentist on a regular basis. Although the levels of dental disease have disminished in England in thes last years, the British dental system has some pitfalls that must be considered. However, the social significance of such a system can not be underestimated.
