    • The article presents an interview with Ben Vermaercke of about research he and colleagues at KU Leuven conducted that showed rats performed better than humans in an experiment involving pattern recognition. Topics discussed include reasons for the rats' superior performance, the visual complexity of rats, the importance to humans of learning about rats' capabilities, other animals including male songbirds and zebra fish used in brain research, and a strategy humans might use to outperform rats in Vermaercke's experiment
