Desde los inicios de la contemporaneidad, los antiguos monasterios irán desapareciendo o, al menos, experimentan profundas transformaciones. Esta situación fue consecuencia del triunfo de un nuevo sistema que, rompiendo con el tradicional posicionamiento trascendente, los convirtió en referencias de cuanto había dejado de ser.Pese a cambio tan decisivo, muchos de los que constituyeron grandes microcosmos religiosos terminan incorporándose a nuestra realidad actual. Sin embargo, lo harán bajo apariencias renovadas que, en sí mismas, resultan profundamente significativas respecto a los planteamientos surgidos en torno a la conservación y usos de aquellos conjuntos considerados como valioso legado del pasado.

From the beginnings of the contemporaneousness, the former monasteries will be disappearing or, at least, they experience deep transformations. This situation was a consequence of the victory of a new system that, breaking with the traditional transcendent positioning, turned them into references of all that once were. In spite of so decisive change, many of what constitute the religious microcosms, ends up joining our current reality. Nevertheless, they will do it under renewed appearances that, turn out to be deeply significant with regard to the approaches arisen around the conservation and uses of those collections of monumental buildings considered as valuable legacy of the past.
