Resumen de Quando o pregador ensina a governar: a literatura política dos frades Mendicantes nos reinos ibéricos (séc. XIII)

This paper considers the close relationship between mendicant preachers, Dominicans and Franciscans, and public authorities in the kingdoms of Portugal and León/Castile during the thirteenth century. The sermons constituted efficient discursive mechanisms in proposing moral models, but also political strategies that have taken large proportion during the expansion of the Christian kingdoms into the Muslim political space. By analyzing some sermons of Paio of Coimbra (c.1195-1249) and Juan Gil of Zamora (1241-c.1318), we tried to point out some lines of enquiry that connect sermons to the political discourse of the kings and men of the court. In fact, the sermon approaches the vocabulary invented in the universities to the government of the Iberian crowns.

Este artigo considera a estreita relação dos pregadores mendicantes com os poderes públicos nos reinos ibéricos durante o século XIII. Os sermões constituíam mecanismos discursivos bastante eficientes na proposição de modelos morais, mas, também de políticas e estratégias que tomaram grande proporção durante o período da expansão dos reinos cristãos sobre o espaço político muçulmano. Os pregadores exerciam grande influência sobre os reis e os homens da corte, aproximando o vocabulário político forjado nas universidades às práticas de governo das coroas ibéricas.
