    The objective of this article is to present how Giovanni Boccaccio searches to recreate Florence, the city where he lived, by transmitting the virtues necessaries to his city to the feminine by his literary work Decameron. Therefore, in the beginning, there is a short presentation about the use of literature – especially the case of medieval literature – by history. After it, there is an explanatory context of Florence in the XIV century and, finally, the analysis of the recreation of Florence through the Decameron.

    O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar como Giovanni Boccaccio busca refazer a Florença na qual vivia, ao veicular ao feminino as virtudes necessárias para sua cidade por meio de sua obra literária Decameron. Assim, inicialmente, há uma breve discussão sobre o uso da literatura – sobretudo, o caso da literatura medieval – pela história. Segue-se o contexto de Florença no século XIV e, por fim, a análise da recriação de Florença por meio do Decameron.
